The University of California at Davis is renowned as a global leader in agricultural research, so we were pleased to learn that in the spring of 2019, UC Davis was offering an upper division graphic design course on brand development in the agricultural industry. We were thrilled to be selected by the Instructor, Vincent Pacheco, to be the company to spend 10 weeks with the students, working with them as they created diverse, indepth marketing and branding proposals for Heritage Farmed. The co-founders of Heritage Farmed—Nichols and Wendy—thoroughly enjoyed sharing the ethos, goals and public-benefit nature of the company with the 25+ students. We were very impressed with their creativity, intelligence, positive energy, and development of full brand standards (think: logo and letterhead, plus billboard ads, car wraps, packaging, merchandise and “influencer boxes”!) for Heritage Farmed.
At the end of the course in June 2019, we were thrilled with the logo design presented by one of the students, Juliana Rivera, and we hired her to do the Heritage Farmed logo and product labels. Juli has proven to be a versatile, conscientious, and high-caliber graphic designer. We feel that the logo, with hands of earth extended towards a brilliant sun, deftly captures our company’s ethos, our support of family farmers, and our special home nestled in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada range. Thank you, Juli!
We also want to express our gratitude to Instructor Vincent Pacheco for inviting us to participate in this graphics course, and to all of the UC Davis graphic design students who devoted their time, talent and innovative ideas that continue to inspire us.
COMING SOON...Heritage Farmed, in affiliation with Reef Relief (reefrelief.org), is launching the Grateful Diver line of body care and aromatherapy products. Proceeds will benefit coral reef conservation and education programs sponsored by Reef Relief.
In the fall of 2020, Heritage Farmed worked with the social media class at Sacramento State to develop social media and marketing programs for Heritage Farmed. This gave the students hands-on, real life experience working with a business, and it gave Heritage Farmed enthusiastic, creative and professional social media content to implement.
