About Us

Heritage Farmed, Inc.

Heritage Farmed™ believes that it is important to use the highest quality organic, organically-grown and wildcrafted (harvested from Nature) botanical ingredients that embrace the healing spirit and medicinal properties of the plants.

We source our ingredients, when possible, from rural farmers who produce food, fiber and botanical medicine, and who act as watershed stewards and restoration ecologists of the land. These farmers are rooted in traditions of sustainable agriculture that go by many names - such as organic, biodynamic, permaculture, aquaponics, regenerative farming and indigenous ecological knowledge - and who work together as a community of land-based peoples, watershed healers and ecosystem regenerators.

Through our various products we connect these farmers with customers seeking high quality organic and effective medicinal plant-based body care, aromatherapy and wellness treatments. Our customers realize and FEEL the benefits of an agriculture where the treatment of the soil on the farm - and the ecology of the farmscape - become manifest in the quality of Heritage Farmed™ body care and aromatherapy products.

In addition, Heritage Farmed™ donates a portion of its sales to non-profit organizations and campaigns that benefit social and environmental causes.

Nichols Baughman

President, director and co-founder, Heritage Farmed, Inc.

After leaving Detroit as a teenager criss-crossing the country and seeking meaningful work, heart strings pulled Nichols to Lake Tahoe, where he studied at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village. With a family heritage in automobile manufacturing and agriculture, and an earned degree in Environmental Sciences, Nichols mixed arts and science to discover his true passion for organic farming and living a life nurturing wildlife, people and the planet.

At the age of 22, he embarked on his first major farming and land stewardship project on 84 acres of land in Nevada City, California. For the next 20 years, Nichols continued to refine ancient techniques of regenerative farming with modern science, intuition and the freedom to cultivate exceptional herbs, flowers and plants. Discovering that the medicine produced from these botanicals had incalculable benefits that rippled far and wide, he started to extract essential elements from them into a range of topical medicines. This symbiotic relationship between healthy farmer and healing plant revealed deep teachings in such diverse areas as microbiology, preparation, horticulture, aquaponics, conservation, bioregionalism, and apothecary.

In 2018, Nichols, along with Wendy Weir, founded Heritage Farmed, Inc. as a culmination of 25 years of experience cultivating, extracting and living with botanicals.

As Nichols so passionately feels: “This is our Heritage!”
